May 2011 “Let your Light So Shine”

It sure is nice this time of year when the days are just a little longer. I love the sunlight. I enjoy a bright sun shinny day! The Lord desires our lives to be the same. The Bible says in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” As I read this verse it encourages me to have the right kind of testimony. Many people have a testimony but it is not always glorifying to God. The light that this verse is speaking of is the Lord Jesus Christ. Now notice it says, “Let your light so shine…”. It is personal and I should give off the light that is in me. Jesus Christ should so permeate my life that He should shine through. Is that your life today? Does Jesus shine through to others? Notice what people see when you are a person who gives off that light, “…that they me see your goodworks…”. When the love of Christ comes shinning through your life, it will show goodworks in and through you. We like to boost ourselves up, but the Word of God says that His light will be as natural as the sunlight on a bright summer day. We must take note that the goodworks that shine through are not for our glorying, but as the verse says “…and glorify your Father which is in Heaven”. That should be the motive of any good work. If we are doing a good work to be seen of men, we have our reward. We should each strive in every good work we do to glorify our Heavenly Father. Is your light shinning? And how bright is that light? Would it attract another to the Saviour? Make this May a “Light shinning month” in your life and trust God for the results.

Let us take the month of January or better yet the whole year of 2012 and make it the year where we get to know Christ more. We should not just want to make Christ a part of our lives, but He should have full control. How much do we know our Creator? How much time do we invest in the study of God? The answer very plainly for most is, ‘very little’ . I, along with the great people of . . . .
