40 Year Celebration

We are very excited about this year’s 40th anniversary celebration. We thank God for those who have served here at the Valley Baptist Church over all the years. We have been celebrating this occassion all summer long by inviting our former Pastors back to preach. It was a wonderful time of recalling what God has done though each of their lives and time of service.   Watch the memory video. (iphone version of video).
Sunday June 6, Dr. Tom Corkish preached the morning and evening service. Dr. Corkish preached the first service of Valley Baptist Church in 1970. Dr. Corkish is presently the pastor of the Anchor Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has pastored this church for over 35 years. Dr. Corkish is a strong fundamentalist and defender of the faith. Watch Morning Service
Sunday July 11th - Dr. Roy Chestnut preached the morning and evening service. We had a great homecoming day at Valley Baptist Church. Dr. Roy Chestnut, the first Pastor of Valley Baptist Church was the guest preacher for the day and our honoree. Many former members and friends of the church traveled from all over the country to be in attendance. Great special music was provided by Allen Ford and Shane Lewis. Dr. Roy Chestnut and Mrs. Rella gave 32 years of their live for the Kendall county Oswego area. The impact of their ministry is felt worldwide. Many people today are in full time service due to the call and surrender of Dr. Roy Chestnut. Dr. Chestnut is now serving in foreign missions in the land of Romania. This needy area is where God has called the Chestnuts. Pray for them as they continue to serve Him.
Sunday, August  8th - Bro. Mike Blythe preached the morning and evening service. Bro. Blythe is a great preacher and an excellent teacher. He and His wife Barbara are currently on staff at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, Ok. Our church loves the Blythe’s very much and appreciated them being here as well. Bro. Blythe pastored here from 2002-2008. Watch Morning Service. See Photos.
And of course David Hemphill is our Pastor now and has been since 2008. Carolee is his wife and we are truely blessed to have them leading us. Pray for the Valley Baptist Church that we would stand strong for the faith here in Oswego, IL.
